Lehr Duplex

Client: Michael and Robin Lehr
Location: Bleecker St., New York City
Project: 1,000 sqf renovation and combination of two studio lofts
Completion: May 2003
Construction: $100,000
General Contractor: Jepol Construction

Located in a corner in the village, the Lehr apartment is a combination of two studio apartments in two one.

The clients are dealers of Arts and Craft furniture and they wanted a home that could also be used as an office and showroom for selected pieces of their collection.

The limited space made the different parts of the program seem as elements of a three-dimensional jigsaw puzzle, which could only be solved by the sculpting of mass and void.

The surfaces where seeing as the negotiators between the modernist space and the arts and crafts furniture. Glass, Wood, Slate and Green Onyx where used to “warm-up” selected areas of the apartment.
